One coworker or senior (Boss) goes on and on about great meetings, their best presentations, etc. But this superiority complex is the least of your problem when you have a narcissist.

Step back and take a good look at your office and colleagues.

You’ll spot at least one narcissist.

They will boast or brag about their achievements while letting you down. So, how to deal with a narcissist in an office setting?

Don’t take things personally

A narcissist's problem is with themselves- you do not fit into the picture- even when they berate or criticize you.

Yes, you may have a series of questions running- are they manipulating you? Is this really your fault?, and more.

Think as a third person. It takes skills and perseverance to not take their attacks personally. But master it as a part of emotional intelligence to face more possibly toxic people in life.

Set Boundaries

Limit their reach to you for your mental health. Consider your own feelings and communicate your needs. Cut back time spent with narcissists in assuring them and making them feel happy.

Be the Change you Want to see

In an unhealthy office environment, teams have to stick together. So, work harder and be the one to boost the morale of others. Be kind to your team, encourage them, and try your best self at all times.

Take Time When You Need

When you feel anxious and tension in the office space is rising, excuse yourself for a few minutes. Get your ground back and motivate yourself to control your emotions. Take a 2 min walk outside in the fresh air- you’ll feel good.

Troubled with a Narcissist Boss or Colleague?

You cannot escape them, but surely you can train yourself to face them with yourself intact. Hope these simple and effective ways to help you deal with the narcissist at your office.
