3 ODD Things That Only Narcissists Do

You’ve probably met a narcissist or two in your life. Perhaps a former lover would never prioritize your needs.

Or perhaps you’ve worked with someone who couldn’t stop bragging about his accomplishments long enough to get any work done.

There are telltale signs that you’re dealing with a narcissistic person, whether your interactions are professional or personal. When you are, set healthy boundaries and maintain an emotional distance.

Here are three things that only narcissists oddly do:

Monologing

Narcissists love themselves more than anything else in the world. They love the sound of their voice and so they go on rants for hours without caring if you want to listen to them or not. They do not see you in this dynamic- they think they are entitled to talk about things that are insignificant and you are obliged to listen to them.

Because “they own you”.

Berate you

They berate you for the same thing they complimented you for in the beginning of the relationship. The narcissist has to get you they compliment everything you do and mean nothing of it. So it shows up later in the devaluation stage when the narcissist puts you down for the things they loved you for.

Act Normal After Abuse

Act as if nothing happened after a big episode of abuse. You may be feeling shattered, but the narcissist is chill, cool. Nothing has happened to them.

Why?

Because narcissists regulate their emotions through you. The more they are able to impact you, the better they feel about themselves. Because that tells them they are in control of you.
